Nitinol Shape Memory Plates and Sheets consist of about 55% Nickel and 45% Titanium. These materials are tailored for the shape memory effect, in which they can be deformed at low temperatures and revert to their original shape upon heating above the austenitic transformation temperature. The tensile strength is between 800 and 965 MPa, and the material can withstand up to 6–8% strain. Transformation temperatures are adjustable through heat treatment. These plates and sheets also provide corrosion resistance, fatigue strength, and superior dimensional stability in thermal cycling.
