Mu Metal Foil is made from a high-permeability nickel-iron alloy, typically consisting of around 77% nickel, 16% iron, 5% copper, and 2% molybdenum. This unique blend provides outstanding magnetic permeability, low coercive force, and excellent ductility, making the foil easy to shape, wrap, or laminate. To restore its magnetic properties after production, Mu Metal must undergo proper annealing in a hydrogen atmosphere. Its mechanical characteristics include good malleability, moderate tensile strength, and high flexibility—ideal for wrapping around components or layering in shielding enclosures to minimize magnetic field interference.
