The Monel 400 or Monel K500 alloys used to make Monel Slitting Coils are mainly made of nickel (≈63%) and copper (28–34%), with trace amounts of iron, manganese, silicon, and carbon. With a yield strength of 170–345 MPa and a tensile strength of 480–620 MPa, Monel 400 offers exceptional ductility and resistance to corrosion. Titanium and aluminium are added to Monel K500 to age-harden it and increase its strength and hardness. In addition to their resistance to pitting, stress-corrosion cracking, and other types of chemical deterioration, both alloys retain exceptional mechanical qualities at both high and low temperatures.
