The Monel 400 or Monel K500 alloys used to make Monel flanges are mainly composed of 28–34% copper and roughly 63% nickel, with trace amounts of silicon, carbon, manganese, and iron. For precipitation hardening, Monel K500 contains titanium (0.35–0.85%) and aluminium (2.3–3.15%). Tensile strength ranges from 480 to 620 MPa for Monel 400 and up to 1100 MPa for Monel K500. Both varieties have good ductility, high fatigue strength, and outstanding corrosion resistance. Monel flanges are extremely resistant to seawater, acidic, and alkaline environments, and they maintain their mechanical integrity over a broad temperature range.
