Monel 400 Wire is essentially made up of around 63% nickel and 28–34% copper along with trace amounts of iron, manganese, carbon, and silicon. This special composition provides good resistance to seawater, acids, and alkalis. Monel 400 has a tensile strength of 480–620 MPa, a yield strength of about 170–345 MPa, and elongation of 30–40%. The alloy has strength at sub-zero and high temperatures, good ductility, weldability, and thermal conductivity. All these characteristics make the Monel 400 wire suitable for extreme environments where other metals fail by corrosion or stress.
