About 22–25% chromium, 4.5–6.5% nickel, 3–5% molybdenum, and balanced amounts of nitrogen, manganese, and iron are the usual composition of duplex steel pipes. Excellent mechanical strength (tensile strength ~620–850 MPa) and high yield strength (nearly twice that of standard austenitic stainless steels) are provided by this dual-phase structure. Duplex pipes have exceptional resistance to corrosion, particularly in acidic and chloride-rich environments.
